August, again

It's my birthday month. Since turning 35, many moons ago, I've been less than thrilled when August finally rolls around at summer's end. The natural aging process in humans is not the most desirable aspect of life. Our culture doesn't like it, and I suppose that's one of the main reasons I don't either. I know all the good reasons to celebrate, so let's focus on that. Here's my list:

1. I'm still alive! That's big. Not everyone gets to live to their next birthday. Gratitude must kick in for that one.

2. Every day is a gift. New mercies. New opportunities to give back all that's been poured into my life. I can serve and bless others, even in the smallest ways.

3. God's good. He spared my life in 2012, and probably many other innumerable times.

4. It's a reminder that I'm still here for a purpose. It's a purpose bigger than me.

5. I can learn and create something new each year.

6. There are endless discoveries to be made in knowing God and growing in the likeness of His Son, Jesus.

7. I'm here because someone needs me.

8. My prayers of faith can change me and others for God's glory and purposes.

9. My husband and I get to celebrate twenty years of marriage this month.

10. I get to continue watching my kids grow up. Also, my nieces and nephews! Not just watching—nurturing, and speaking truth into their lives.

I could keep going, but these ten are the main ones that come to mind. And if you have something to add to the list, please drop it in the comments below! 🥳
